Roulette is an interesting game that offers players a multitude of different bets. There are dozens of different bets with a lot of different combinations, so it is not unusual that the people often get confused by some of the bets. That is why I decided to write this article on roulette numbers and the different bets that are available to the player. Using this knowledge, a player can significantly improve his odds of winning and cut down of the advantage of the house. So without further adieu, let’s delve into the various roulette numbers and the bets that can be made with them.

The first roulette numbers bet is the six-number bet.

Roulette Numbers

This bet is more commonly known by its official name, the avenue bet, and is one of the last of the inside bets. It is also called the line bet, but not a lot or roulette players call it that anymore. This bet has its own characteristics that make it different from a lot of the other roulette numbers bets that you may come across. What are these unique features, you ask? On what roulette numbers do you position your chips in order to place this bet? And what are the particular odds of the avenue bet? These are all questions that I hope to answer here.

The avenue bet allows you to place a bet on six roulette numbers at the same time. But this wager has to be placed on the six roulette numbers in two adjacent rows. That is the primary rule of the avenue bet. The player who wants to place this bet has to place the chips on the line that divides two rows. But you cannot just place the chips on any old place on the line. They have to be placed at the intersection of the roulette numbers line and one of the dozen boxes. Let me give you a good example. You want to place your bet on six roulette numbers from two of the horizontal rows, so you can do it like this: one, two, three, four, five and six. But you can also do it like this: twenty-eight, twenty-nine, thirty, thirty-one, thirty-two and thirty-three. Got it? Good, lets move on to the odds.

With the avenue bet there are eleven combination of numbers where you can place the six roulette numbers wager. this places the odds at about five to one. Which essentially means that for every ten dollars you bet, you would win fifty dollars. And that number doesn’t include your original wager. Now, lets take a look at the house advantage that is associated with this roulette numbers bet. The avenue bet has the standard five percent casino advantage for the American roulette table and a two percent casino advantage for the European roulette table.

And the avenue bet is just one of the many roulette wagers that can be placed. There is also the straight bet (which has the worst advantage of any roulette numbers bet that you can place) and a number of other bets which include the split bet, the basket bet and a number of others. While I have played a number of these bets in the past, I have come to appreciate the outside bets more then the inside bets. The odds are much better for the outside bets. Some people don’t like these bets because the payouts are lower then on most of the inside bets, but I don’t really mind. I have found that these bets work extremely well with a proven roulette strategy and has made me some decent money over the years. But to each his own, and each player needs to find the bet that he is confortable with. Which bet is right for you?
