Several people have requested that I write a guide that will enable them to learn roulette. I have heard these requests and have decided to write this crash course on the game that makes it easier for players who want to learn roulette. I have tried to make it as comprehensive as possible, and include the details that the average person is going to need to be able to learn roulette quickly and therefore get into the game quicker.

With this article I am going to assume that all of you out there already know the object of the game. So let’s move on to placing bets. Placing a wager is fairly easy in the game of roulette.

Learn Roulette

You simple choose the numbers that you want to bet on, and/or choose the colors that you want to bet on. A player who wants to bet on a particular number simply has to put one of his roulette chips on the number. A player that wants to bet on a color places his bet on either the red or black diamond. If a player wants to bet on even or odd, then there is a space for that and its printed plainly in English. Got it so far? Good, let’s move on.

When a player first sits down at a roulette table they have to buy chips to play (a process that is called “buying-in”). The player exchanges his cash for chips that are unique to him and are a color that is different from the rest of the players at the table. These chips are used in lieu of cash and are used to make the various bets. An important thing to remember about these chips is that they are unique to that table and can’t be used at any other table. It also should be noted that these chips have to be turned in for “cash chips” before they can be turned back into currency. The cash chips can then be taken to the cashier’s cage and exchanged for money.

Another thing that has to be taken note of for players wishing to learn roulette is that each roulette table has minimum and maximum bets. The minimum bet is the least amount of money that can be placed during a wager and the maximum bet is the largest bet that a player can make during a wager. For those who are making outside bets, any bet you make has to be the table minimum. For inside bets, players can make wagers that are as small as they want, as long as these individual bets equal the minimum bet of the table and don’t exceed the maximum bet of the table.

Different bets in the game of roulette have different payouts. A bet on a single number has a payout of thirty-five to one and a split bet has a payout of seventeen to one. Oh, you don’t know what that means? Then let me enlighten you. The payout is what you can expect to get back if you win that bet. If you placed five dollars on a single number then you would win one hundred and seventy-five dollars. If the bet had a payout of one to one, then you would win five dollars if you placed a five dollar bet.

And that is how roulette is played. A good idea for anyone who has just took the time to learn roulette is to find a free game to practice with. There are thousands of them on the internet and they can really help you master the basics before you head on to a big money game.
